Wilmington Beach and Swamp

7/27 - 7/29
Explore the stunning swamps and coastline of Wilmington, North Carolina. Explore this majestic coastline of North Carolina including the remarkable Coquina rocks at Fort Fisher.

These Coquina rocks are the only exposed rocks like this in the Carolinas and make for some striking images.  There are also countless of other photo ops in and around Fort Fisher, including old structure in the surf and the old Kure Beach Pier.  On Saturday evening, we'll change gears and head out to the Black River to camp among the ancient Cypress trees.  We will enjoy camping riverside with a bonfire and hear our river guide, Captain Charles, tell the history of this fascinating place.  Our boats will already be on location for an early outing Sunday morning.  On Sunday morning, we'll roll out for a sunrise in a motor boat tour with Captain Charles, owner of Cape Fear River adventures.  We will have a skiff, jon boat, canoes and kayaks available for your enjoyment and exploration after our morning sunrise tour.  Enjoy the history of this fascinating place as we explore the golden light of sunrise as it filters through these magnificent setting.

Two full days, traveling up and down the coast of Wilmington together, shooting some of the most beautiful locations the area has to offer. We will be covering topics such as exposure, camera settings, histograms, hyper-focal distance, long exposures, “seeing” in black and white, and the use of various filters.

Enrollment is limited to 8, so you will receive ample individual attention, with two qualified instructors to assist you. You’ll quickly learn through direct hands-on instruction.  This is the best way to learn and remember it for your next outing.

While we try to make sure everything is perfect for the workshop, alas we can not control the weather. But it won’t stop us from shooting. Some of the best landscape images were taken just before, during or just after rain!

I can't say enough good things about Alistair and Tommy's workshop. Great photographers, great teachers, great people. Can't wait for the next one!

I had a great time at the Charleston Spring Photography Workshop. It was great to meet so many talented photographers. I would recommend your workshops to anyone beginners/professional photographers anyone who would like to learn more about photography in general while having an amazing adventure.

Mountains to Sea Photography Workshops has opened my eyes to more than just photography by introducing me to information, techniques, locations and people that have enabled and inspired me to work continuously on improving my photography skills.
